Illinois Standards Achievement Test
The
Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) measures individual student achievement at the
elementary level relative to the Illinois Learning Standards. The results give parents, teachers,
and schools a measure of student learning and school performance. Results are used to
measure school and district adequate yearly progress (AYP) as required by the No Child Left Behind
law.
ISAT tests students in grades 3-8 in reading and mathematics. Students in grades 4
and 7 are also tested in science. ISAT uses both multiple choice and constructed
response questions.
